Premier League new boys Southampton have signed Japan right-back Yukinari Sugawara from AZ Alkmaar for a fee believed to be in the region of £6m.

Southampton’s website has announced the signing of Japan right-back Sugawara from AZ Alkmaar on a four-year deal, tying the 24-year-old to a deal until June 2028.
Sugawara said of his signing UFABET with Southampton: “Coming to Southampton and playing in the Premier League has been one of my biggest dreams since I was a kid. I’m really excited to be here.”
“Last summer I played against Southampton in pre-season. I knew Southampton was a good club. When Southampton made me an offer, I said yes in a second.”
Sugawara is Saints boss Russell Martin’s seventh signing of the summer and the club’s fifth defensive addition.
Martin said he had monitored Sugawara “for a long time” and the player was his “number-one target” at right-back.
Sugawara, a 24-year-old right-back, was formerly a product of Nagoya Grampus and played for the first team between 2018-2019 before moving to AZ Alkmaar and has been a regular for the team ever since. He has played almost 200 games for the first team so far and holds the record for most European appearances for the club, with 50.
