Covington council fills position with familiar face

Wayne Snoey has been appointed to the Covington City Council to fill the position that became vacant in September when Councilman Don Henning died.

This is the second time Snoey has served on the council. He started his term in January 2002, but resigned in March 2004 because of health issues.

He was one of four people to apply for the position Henning had held. Applicants participated in a community forum and were interviewed individually by the council.

“Wayne has a set of skills that are a good fit for the council at this time and a good vision for what he wants the city to be,” said Mayor Margaret Harto.

Snoey, who has been a resident of Covington for nine years, applied because he felt it was important to have someone who shared Henning’s vision and who wouldn’t need a learning curve.

“I care very much about our city, and as a huge believer in community service, I believe if our community calls, we should answer,” Snoey said. “Most of our society would rather complain about a problem than collaborate on a solution.”

Snoey has continued to volunteer in the community and is the managing broker of the Kent Windermere Real Estate office.
