NBA Wire Notes | Miami deals Walker to Timberwolves

Antoine Walker’s turbulent time with the Miami Heat is over.

The Heat traded the three-time All-Star forward to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday in a five-player deal that came one day after Miami completed a winless exhibition season.

Walker, backup center Michael Doleac, forward Wayne Simien and a conditional first-round draft pick were sent to Minnesota for former Miami swingman Ricky Davis and center Mark Blount.

The deal gives Miami the third scoring option it wanted in Davis. The Heat will try to fit him in alongside Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade, who will miss a few more weeks while recovering from knee and shoulder surgeries.

Stuckey breaks hand

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Detroit rookie Rodney Stuckey from Kentwood High School broke his left hand in the third quarter of the Pistons’ 104-85 exhibition victory over the Washington Wizards.

The first-round pick from Eastern Washington had 10 points in 13 minutes before he was injured late in the third quarter when he was going through a screen.

“It just got caught and my fingers went the wrong way,” Stuckey said. “I was in so much pain that I knew it was pretty bad.”
