NHL | Sedin lifts Canucks to overtime victory

VANCOUVER, B.C. - Henrik Sedin scored his second goal of the game in overtime to give the Vancouver Canucks a 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night.
Sedin, whose first goal came on a controversial play early in the second period, was attempting to hit twin brother Daniel Sedin with a pass in OT, but the puck deflected off the stick of Colorado defenseman Kurt Sauer and past a helpless Jose Theodore.
Of his goals, Sedin said, “Most of them are ugly. I don’t think I’ve scored from further out than 10 feet.”
Roberto Luongo made 24 saves as Vancouver won its third straight game - and its second in eight home games - to get back to .500 (8-8).
After having an apparent goal waved off with 1:25 left in the first period, the Canucks got one to count 4:41 into the second when Henrik Sedin knocked a rebound out of the air with Theodore prone on the ice.
Sedin’s stick appeared to be above the crossbar when it made contact with the puck, but it was signaled a goal and a video review failed to produce an angle conclusive enough to overturn the call.
“It was clearly a mistake,” Colorado coach Joel Quenneville said.
Sedin said, “I’ll take it.”
It came not long after Daniel Sedin jammed in a loose puck as Theodore was covering it with his glove. The referee indicated he had already blown the whistle.
John-Michael Liles tied the score 1:01 into the third period with a point shot that deflected in off the skate of Canucks defenseman Willie Mitchell as he battled Ryan Smyth in front.
Luongo, who made 36 saves in a 3-2 win in Calgary on Thursday, made his best stop early, flashing the glove to rob Andrew Brunette from the side of the net.
