Pac-10 Men’s Basketball | No. 2 UCLA downs Yale

LOS ANGELES - Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook had 15 points apiece and No. 2 UCLA breezed past Yale 81-47 Friday night to remain unbeaten.

The already-hobbled Bruins had a pair of scares when Love and starting center Alfred Aboya left the floor with injuries. Love, the freshman star who is leading the team in scoring and rebounding, limped to the locker room with his left shoe off with just more than seven minutes to play, but ran back into the gym and waved to the crowd during a break and took his seat back on the bench with 3:45 to go.

In the first half, Aboya took an elbow to the left eye and went to a hospital.

Luc-Richard Mbah a Moute had 14 points for the Bruins (6-0), who won their 24th in a row at home.

Yale (1-3) had players who matched Love’s 6-foot-10 height, but none who came close to his bulk, and he overpowered them under the basket.

Yale was able to score from the outside on UCLA early, but a long jumper from Love and a burst of defensive energy spurred a 16-1 run for UCLA.

USC 57,

Miami (Ohio) 53

O.J. Mayo made two free throws after being intentionally fouled with 3.3 seconds left and USC (4-1) advanced to the championship game of the Anaheim (Calif.) Classic. Miami (2-1) was denied its first 3-0 start since 1998-99.

USC will meet No. 19 Southern Illinois in the title game Sunday.

At Oregon State 56,

Idaho State 41

Seth Tarver had a game-high 21 points and Roeland Schaftenaar had 12 rebounds to help the Beavers (2-2) rally from a 26-19 deficit at halftime and win their home opener.
