Creative Speculations is always on the look out for interesting and informative sites for aspiring writers.  Each month we shall try to spotlight one or two sites that we feel may be of help in writing that bestseller.

Although we do not maintain this page on a regular basis, some publications are so valuable to the aspiring author that we shall list them as we happen upon them.

Well, I just got my first copy of Fiction Writer, and I am very impressed!  Not a recap of same tired formulas so many writer's magazines give us, but a fresh, new, informative look at the world of authorship.

Millennium Pick for May, 1999

This month's pick is not a writing site, but rather some sage advice we received via email from Dick Reynold.  With wit and wisdom, he presents us with Thirteen Commandments for Short Story Authors.  You might want to print this one out.

Millennium Pick for February, 1999

In a departure from normal, we have picked a site that has nothing to do with the technical aspect of writing, but rather, the creative aspect.  Most of us heard the most recent report of long distance rates being applied to the Web.  It was even reported on CNN.  It was what David Emery calls the "new urban legends and folklore."

David Emery has loaded his site, Urban Legends and Folklore, with those wild tales we have heard handed from my brother's wife's sister--Honest-To-Gawd--and other sources, just out of range of verification.

This site is packed with story ideas... if you are into the bizarre.   I know I found a few myself.

Millennium Picks for January, 1999
