Intiman reaches fall funds goal

Intiman Theatre has reached its fall goal of raising $1.3 million to stabilize operations.

The company announced earlier it was in a serious cash crunch, and needed a quick infusion of funding to cover production and other costs.

As planned, Intiman is now engaged in a second-phase campaign to raise $2 million more by March 31 to pay much of its accumulated debt.

“Million” makes a million bucks

The Village Theatre’s new musical “Million Dollar Quartet” has generated $1 million in sales, making it one of the most popular shows in the Issaquah company’s 28-year history.

The show, which the Village nurtured in its Village Originals series of musical workshops, has sold 29,000 tickets (including 17,200 from season subscriptions) to the popular production, which re-enacts a real-life, 1950s recording session involving Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and other rock greats.

“Million Dollar Quartet” continues through Nov. 25 at Issaquah’s satellite theater in Everett, the Everett Performing Arts Center (information, 425-257-8600 or www.villagetheatre.org).
